RE: Pricing questions with Fatboy
If you dont mind travel...shop the mid west I saw a dealer that in january was giving a free 95 motor upgrade with all bikes! and selling for msrp. Make them keep the bike if they want more than msrp...I was shopping for the lim 05 Fatboy and dealer in NC would sell for msrp and my dealer in Atlanta wanted 1k over msrp....told them to keep it and bought a springer classic....for less than msrp. Good luck look for the cold snow areas they need the business right now.

RE: Pricing questions with Fatboy
I live in Norther California near San Jose. I've been looking for a 2006 Fat Boy at Fremont Cycle Center, they are asking:
MSRP 16,645
Fuel System ESPFI $225.00
H-D® Factory Security System $275.00
Sub total= $17,145
Fremont California Sales Tax at 8.75%
Total after Tax $18,645
California Emissions (Carb) $290.00
California Emissions (ESPFI) $100.00
Freight (price applies to the 48 contiguous states and Alaska only) $275.00
Total after non-taxable cost = $19,310
The dealer is wants $19,971 out-the-door. I'm trying to figure out how they came up with that number. Did I forget something? Or is state emission and freight taxable.
On top of that want to lower the bike, add V&H pipes, chrome forks, handlebar risers, stainless steel cables, and Deluxe passing lights. Parts totaling $3,088. Labor to install alll of the above is $1820 at a rate of $104/hour. After taxes it comes to $5,179
So for the Fat Boy and Optional parts installed the out-the-door price comes to $25,150
Does anyone see any place I can negociate? Maybe ask for 15% off on the parts, sice I buying a lot at the same time as the bike? Or maybe on the labor since I'm having it done all at once.
Any advice would be appreicated. Thanks.

RE: Pricing questions with Fatboy
Set up runs about 3 hours labor
CA registration
That should about cover it.
If its 2-tone more, if alarm, $275 more, chrome wheels=more...
I couldn't find anyone in NorCal that will negotiate on anything, but all for MSRP.
You can buy your parts online for 20% at chicago hd or Zanottis. You should at least get 10% off purchase of parts at dealer.

RE: Pricing questions with Fatboy
Hey guys, a little FYI on "assembly and prep" charges. I know for a fact (I worked for a Yammi/Kawi dealership for 7 years) and all the "metric" franchises pay the dealer to A&P a new unit. I am not 100% sure with respect to HD, but if any of you guys buy something metric, and pay A&P, you are getting jerked......
Rich
BTW, up here in MA, I am shopping used F/B or DLX, and the market is loaded with trade-ins (especially Deuces, and Road Klams (oops sorry for the mis-spell) . Used is generally slightly below to modestly below NADA, and new units seem to be at or slightly above MSRP. I am thinking prices will rise as springtime fever hits the consumer....

I went to a dealership yesterday to get a price on a new Fatboy and they quoted me 19700 including tax, title, and license. Is that a fair price? If so I think I can justify it but if there's a way to bargain them down it would be good to know. I'm thinking about waiting for the dealership near me to open so I can take that price to them as see if they'll beat it. They also showed me the Heritage for 17900 and said the only differences in the two bikes are cosmetic but I like the Fatboy's fenders and black engine. Is the Fatboy also more expensive because it's more popular?
Thanks,
Marcus

RE: Pricing questions with Fatboy
I paid 17.400.00 for my 07 with alarm in Allen Texas
They first where asking 19.900.00 So it does pay to ask for a lower price.
I told em right off the bat that I was not going to pay more than sticker on any bike.
This Dealer HD of Dallas worked with me very well and stayed untill almost 10pm to make the deal.
Then they had a guy trailer the bike home for me the same night.
Good Folks I reccomend then highly.
