RE: best seat for softail
I also have the large Mustang touring seat with passenger pillion and rider backrest. A lot better than the stock seat, although I don't think any of them are perfect. The backrest is a must for me! But the best thing, along with the Mustang, was a pair of Kuryakan dually offset highway pegs that allow me to stretch out all the way. This method of riding (for me, at 6"1", 260) takes about 60% of the weight off your tailbone. With the Mustang, backrest and pegs, I could ride all day if I didn't have to stop 'to make and or add water."

RE: best seat for softail
I have several seats I use. First I bought the Sundowner seat. Loved it except for the long rides I wanted a back rest. Next I got the Harley softail seat with the back rest. The fit was about the same and the back rest is great. Just for kicks and to change the looks a bit I borrowed my brother's solo seat off his Heritage. Still waiting for it to warm up outside to give it a try though.
