Default stock pipes and baffles

Now let talk about pipes. these stock pipes on the 05 standard are way to quiet. guy at the hd shop says it's bad for the motor to run withought the baffles(back pressure i guess), but i like loud. I want to hear my bike when i ride (and everyone else). i was thinking about the screaming eagles mufflers, these to come with baffles and wonder if the diffrence in sound is really that noticeable or i have eyes on a set of samson groundpounders (groundpounders gotta love that name). any ideas please. thanks. jake.

I put a Kerker 2 into 1 and it is loud. It helped me with power as well.

I ride with my local HOG Chapter and there is a fellow with Samson pipes on his Fat Boy. We took off from a light side by side and he nearly ruptured my left eardrum! I would have to say those are the loudest pipes I have heard to date!

Having gone from Factory Quiet to 2-1 V&H big noise difference but very noticable power increase. If we ride side by side I try and keep the exhust side opposite the bike next to me and ride next to a Road King or some large people hauler.

Welcome,

Go with any pipes you want, even ones without baffles. The mechanic at your harley shop should of said you will lose some performance ( not enough to notice ) if you take baffles out. It is not bad for the motor as long as their not super short pipes ( 1 foot or shorter).
