Default Handlebar Adjustment

I'd like to adjust my Heritage's handlebars so my arms are not so far extended.

Can I just loosen the clamps, tip the bars closer to the seat, and retighten?

Give it a shot, but with the factory bars, it may not move them back as much as it will down. You may need to invest in some different bars.

You could also try some pullback risers.

When i moved my mini apes forward on my bike i had to reposition the clutch handle and brake handle as well as all the stuff it is attatched to so that my hands were pointing forward as opposed to down. Just a fyi incase you reposition your bars and end up with all your controls facing the sky. Also the stock brake like does not give you much play at all.

Yeah just loosen them and see what you like, If you find a position thats better you may have too move other things like controls but its easy, if you find your stock bars some what uncomfortable your proballylike me, in need of new bars, I got buy for awhile pushing mine forward but ultimatley changed to apes and love them, every bike and rider is differet so experiment with bar position

The mini apes that are stock on the 04 DWG fit my 06 Heritage without changing a single cable or wire. They're gonna offer a better range of adjustment and the grip angle is really comfortable.
