I've rode both 2 up and while the Heritage is capable, there is no comparison to the ride quality of the Road King.

 

I traded my Streetglide for a Heritage and couldn't be happier. I thought the touring bike would be the most comfortable but I was wrong. For me personally the Streetglide was high centered, the extra weight was very noticable. The rubber mounted motor shook my hands to sleep around town, and I never did get used to the fairing. After 2 years I finally realized that my favorite bike was my old Softail, so I went for the two up version. I instantly knew it was the right move, smooth and comfortable, low center of gravity, does everything I need. I did have to add tunes, the one thing I really missed from my touring bike!

 

It's a great bike for 2 up. We go out on Sundays and ride the back roads down in San Diego County.

 

Yes we looked at several of the HD offerings but liked the looks of the Softail Heritage Classic and when we took it out for a ride with the wife on the back we where sold.
I've added some great items to the stock mix to make our bike even more comfortable to ride on, Shotgun Shock, Progressive Mono-Tube fork spring system, Adjustable passenger floor boards for the wife and the Lindby Linbar for me.


The other HD offerings where to heavy to maneuver with in this SoCal traffic and the nostalgic look was what we liked.

 

I traded in my ultra limited for the softails I own now and both my wife and I prefer the smooth ride of the softail counterbalanced engine. I also find it so much easier to maneuver because I have better control sitting "IN" the softails rather than on the tourer. I personally will never own another Harley tourer. My next ride will be a sport tourer so I can hang with the young guys my age on their sport bikes but I won't be getting ride of either of my softails.

 

Being a Heritage owner;

I've ridden 2-up on it a few times (Shocks were not
adj properly) - I wasn't crazy about it.

To me, on my 00, if it had the 95 kit, a 6sp and the rear air susp
It would be a top notch tourer. 2nd from the top.

Still cant beat the FLT (In any flavor) I've ridden em all.

The Heritage IS easier to ride though. Lighter and lower.

 

Interesting to see positive posts about a particular model. Post this same thing in another area & you'd get blasted! Lots of Softie haters out there. I happen to agree that the Heritage is a good all around bike & would probably do the job for most riders. If I rode 2 up, its what I'd ride.

Is she on the front or back? Most people posting here say that riding a Heritage is great, but the pillion position is where the questions are.

 

On the back. Which kind of surprises me, it's the stock pillion & pegs.
