and while holding the throttle wide open power shifting...I have passed many a bikes with more horsepower than mine.....
I usually end up doing the"power shift" when someone pisses me off (read cage), and I want to put some distance between us

The biggest danger would probably be shearing shift dogs (of course that would mean little(or big) bits of metal rattling around in there) ,But "The compensating sprocket reduces the intensity of the power pulses thru the drivetrain", so the occasional clutch less shifting shouldn't degrade your tranny's life.
But thats just my , take it for what its worth
i have tried it several times but it isnt as easy to do on my train as it was on my honda when i had it or in my truck or cars. when i do it on my train it actually feels like a really hard shift and makes more noise than using the clutch.
