Here in Philadelphia, they can impound your vehicle for expired or cancelled registration, it's called a "Live Stop".. doesn't matter if it's a bike or car.

you said you never let your insurance lapse.. check with your provider. Even though you paid for a years worth of coverage, if the registration is not valid, the insurance is not in effect. I've handled quite a few accidents involving people with suspended registrations or licenses.. and at court they found out their insurance companies took the loop hole and denied coverage.

At this point everybody has pretty much beat you up on the deal. Now the bottom line.

1) Pay the fine and move on.

2) Go to court and explain you have corrected everything and throw yourself on the mercy of the court as this is a financial burden to you. I assume you have some free time, nothing to loose. If not it will cost more from not working and general waste of time.

There you have it in a nut shell, good luck and as I always try to live by " never repeat the same mistake".[sm=vader.gif]

From one Train to another I feel for you man, but no sense crying about it just
pay your fines and you'll be back on the road again.
Let the wind sort it out, it always works for me!

Here's a link for MC do and don'ts for each state, good luck!

In Cal they give you paper plates that have the dealer's name on them. They are not the same as dealer plates and have no expiration and are not evidence of payment of fees.

Thank You!!!!That is exactly what I had on. I am not cryin about it Im just lookin at my options. But everyone seems to just be talkin crap. One day you'll get pulled over and get F*cked with given a wrongfull ticket and I'l do the same for ya. Call u and idiot whinning Bitch. Karma is a bitch. Thanx for all ur help!

Sohe got caught speeding big deal...

I like to think of the fines as more of a tax so I can go fast. [8D]
Living in Ontario, you must love paying excessive 'taxes'. I've read they made the speeding fines even more insane than when I lived there a few years back.

As for the original post, as I'm sure you realize, you fugged up. Maybe you weren't doing 65 in a 40 zone. However I don't believe that is what got your bike impounded. It was riding an unregistered vehicle. I don't figure you have a leg to stand on, to fight that one. Lesson learned the hard way. (as the valuable ones seem to be...)

didn't see you got it back, consider it a cheap learning lesson- just pay registration next year!!

Plus you live in SoCAL, come how cold does it really get, I was riding in December!!

On the other issues(pipes, beanie, etc.), it's more about attitude.
