I have 14" mini apes on my 02 flstfi, and have them turned slightly forward from the fork tubes. I bought the bike used so I don't have anything to compare to, but my bike is so comfortable. It took a little while to adapt to turning and tight manuevers with the highr bars, but now I like it so much more. I am 5'9" and my bars are just right about the height of my shoulders. I could ride all freakin day. I say do it. There is no comparison.

Love'em but riser height makes a difference also, so its hard to know what your going to get.
