Springer Frontend on FXSTC
Has anyone here tried to put a springer frontend on a Softail Custom? I have always loved the looks of the softail springer but they had stopped making them in 07 when i bought my FXSTC. I`ve been looking at some aftermarket springer front ends but i think that the stock HD unit looks the best. I`m sure that its not going to be a cheap project. Does anyone have any suggestions?
thanks

Start saving money?
But seriously its not a big deal, if you have the parts its a simple bolt in project.
If there's a"problem" with it, its thatits not going to be a cheap project.
You'll need to get EVERYTHING from the handlebars down to the axle.
BTW they are making "Springers" again this year, a "special" model called the Cross Bones.

Not a problem. It's the same bike different front ends. Used HD springers bring $1500+, new one are $2500 if I remember right. The beauty is the new springers are the old springers. The springer front end did not change in 2000 like everything else so you can take a springer front end off a 1990-99 and put it on a 2007.

Thanks for the help guys. Yes i`ve seen the new cross bones and like it, but buy the time i sell my bike for several thousand less than what i paid for itand then buy a new 2008 the new bike route would cost much more. I`m going to keep my eye out for a used springer front end and maybe i`ll get lucky and find one.

Be sure you have lots and lots of money unless you can find a used one. I got lucky and found a complete springer front end on ebay off of an 05 Softail Springer and mounted it on my 06 Night Train. I paid 2200.00 for front end, tire, fender, headlight, caliper and rotor. If you were able to buy all new parts I would think 4000.00 would not be out of the picture.

I wanted to do the same thing to my '08 FatBoy, and change the rear fender to the bobbed off one from a Custom or Standard - then Harley beat me to it with the Cross Bones.
my dealer told me HD didn't make the stock front end any more, and suggested I go to an aftermarket one - like the Paucho ones. I haven't even checked into them - I've been busy selling a house and moving, and all the stuff that goes with that.
good luck - and don't forget to post photos if you do it.
