I have the regular rim on my 02 fatboy still with a 150 Metzler and it fits fine. I could prolly fit a 160. I have read on here that people have stuffed a 160 metzler in there as the Metzlers are a little narrower than the stock dunslops...

sick train CJ, the black apes look killer...i think for nowi will put a 150 on my stock wheel. I am in the middle of painting my tins now & i am doing bars, lights etc... i'll keep researching but i think what i will end up doing is trying to squeeze a 200 under an 06 rear fender and figuring out how to put 06 struts on (i really dont want to lose that "softail" look)... we'll see...

i want to put as biga rear tire on my '02 softail without cutting anything off or changing belts... according to someone at hd wheels (http://www.hdwheels.com/Product.htm) i can put a
18" x 4.25" rim with a 160/60/18 tire, and not make any changes... this soundslike its what i want to do but i was wondering if anyone has done this before (pics?)or whatanyone thinks of it? thanks
You should be able to tuck a 18/160 in the rear. You may have to do something bto the belt guard. I put an 18/240 on mine, but had to cut the struts.

Hey Josh,

I have the 160/60/18 on the rear of my train. It fits in there fine. I went with the metzler because finding the 160/60/18 is hard to do. Avon dosen't carry it.

Heres an old picture of my bike with the 18 in the rear:

Awesome looking bike!!!!!!

ended up installing a 150 16" on stock setup without any problems.... now that fall is here and winter is coming i'm making plans for winter.... thinking bout goin wider without changing rear fender. i was looking at my setup (2002 fxsti) and thinking if i buy the 18x4.25 rear rim i cam run a 170 if i change the stock 02 pulley and belt to the newer style narrower ones. has anyone out there tried this? cant justify $3g's on wide tire kit, but a 240 would look nasty back there....

I have a 160/60/18 metzeler on my 2002 softtail. I'll take some pictures and post sometime today. As mentioned before there aren't alot of options for that tire. I have found two; Metzeler 880 and Dunlop makes one also. Can't remember model, had to order the Dunlop through local shop. The 880 has made it 4,000 miles and still has another 1,000 or two left in it. I never got more than 2,500 out of the Dunlop. Granted I like burnouts, so mileage I get out of tires is extremely low. Back on point you shouldn't have any problems with the 18 inch combo on your bike.

joshh I took some pictures of my bike and added them to my photo gallery. My back wheel is a 4.25, so you shouldn't have any problems with the 18.

jesse, bike looks great... what size pulley are you running? do you think if you ran the new style thin one, a 170 would fit? or would you run into clearance problems? i've been talking to a couple people and i'm being told i can go with a 200 if i change to an 06rear fender and belt setup and an 18x5.5" rim that has a softail hub.
