Saddle bags for 2007 FXSTC
I am thinking of putting bags on my 07 Softail Custom, wondering if anybody has put the HD ones on and how they are, and if anyone has anything else out there. I have looked at some bags made by Leather Pros and really like them, just not sure if they will fit the 2007 without moving the turn signals. Looking for a sturdy bag and mount and something that looks like it fits the bike (size wise and style).
I will have my wife on for several rides and the weather can change so fast and so drastically, you need to dress for the cold in the mornings and late evenings butin theafternoon you're pulling layers off and I need a place to put them. I can't buy a bagger just yet, so I need a little room on this one.

I went with Thunder Iron Bags. I had a choice of mounting positions, forward and aft. Mostowners order them so they are mounted forward enough to clear their stock turn signals. I had to order mine so the bags would clear the chrome on the SE seat, so I decided to switch to smaller LED turn signals.
You can call up and talk to Max. he will let you know what you can order.

I have an 07 softail custom as well and was going crazy trying to decide which bags to get. I wanted to be able to remove them easy and after much research i decided on the boss bags #36, they are great and i didnt have to move my stock signals. They come off and go on in about 5 seconds, so that is what i needed but boy do you pay for that privilege. they were very helpful with questions even after the sale.

I got a set of 90119-00C HD bags on ebay for a good price. When my wife and I ride there is plenty of room for jackets, rain gear and extra clothes.
If you get a set of bags that requires mounting kit 90573-07 check out my post at https://www.hdforums.com/m_1946493/tm.htm . You can save the headache of trying to find a dealer with the kit in stock and about $30.

These are the Iron Bags, Iron Thunder model in their custom tan color. No need to re-locate the turn signals and large enough for a long trip. I'm having the seat re-upholstered in leather and dyed to match the bags. The saddleshop owner said the saddlebags are made from the thickest leather he had ever seen saddlebags made from and should last a lifetime. Not quick release but I don't care. I like having a place to carry the things I take riding with me.

My post won't help as I have no pics to show you (this post sux), but I have an '08 annv. FXSTC and went with the HD bags that are listed for a Fatboy in the '08 cagalogue. They didn't require signal relocation either. Nice bags without being too big. They are about 3/8" away from the signals.

I'll be watchin' this thread. I'm lookin' to get a set of bags for my bike also. Right now, I'm leaning toward the HD "Detachable Leather Saddlebags" (Part #88238-07). They're pretty expensive, but I like the size of them. I like the fact that they're detachable, but I'd probably keep them on my bike. Having detachable bags would make it easier to clean the rear wheel.

Live2ride,
I will get some pics for you as soon as I get a chance. If you were to install these bags with your new seatthey would not stick out as fare as mine. The stock K&Q seat is wider than your retro seat therefore you have to use the added spacer.I will post some pics to show you what I mean.............
