Default will this Avon tire fit the deuce rim, instead of the dunlop 180

iam about to change my rear rim to a deuce rim. i wanted a 180 tire, but dunlop is the only one i could find, but have heard they wear downfast and are slippery in the rain. so wanted to try the meterlzer or avon, since i have heard nothing but good things about them. so i was woundering if this avon tire will fit the rear deuce rim? the 170 is 175 mm wide and the dunlop 180is 177 mm wide. so i would only lose 2 mm, if you look at the specs on both tires. i just want to make sure first before ordering itthanks. jackyl

Default RE: what brand 180 tire will fit on a rear duece rim?

I recently replaced both of my warn out stock tires with thew Metzler 880 tire. Like them but did find that especially with the front tire you got to jack up the tire pressure. Had a bad 40 to 30 front wobble until I found out that I needed 42 lbs in the front. Use 40 in the rear.

I believe Dunlop is the answer to the 180 question. Don't think anyone else makes the type of tire you need.

If you go to the Avon web site and put in your type of bike, it will tell you what tire to use. On my Deuce, I was going to Venoms but they didn't make a Venom to fit the rear of the Deuce. They had me use the Sport Touring tire, which had almost the same tread design as the Venom.

On another note, I had a 180 Metzler on the rear of a Yamaha, which barely fit in the track on a trailer. The 160 Avon on the Deuce was bigger than the track.
