take alook at the reply from oldfenderguy, the cover, with gasket and tighened, mounts just up to the "ears" with just maybe 1/4 of the ear showing. the cover doesnt go over the "ears"

I see what you're saying. In that case the screw that comes with the cover is too short. Guess I'll take it with me to work tomorrow and "stretch" it. Looks like the gasket could be made out of anything because it is really just a spacer. Thanks for all the help at least I know I have the right part now.
