How much longer would the idle and throttle cables need to be with 508's on a Softail Deluxe? Randy

I got the 518's. At 5'9" they were the ones recommended to me by Wild1. They were not wrong. Simply awesome.

Tip: I installed 4" over thottle cables based on wild1's recommendation. They are a little long. I recommend only 2" over, that way all the excess cable is not all jammed up against the inside of your forks. They rub pretty bad and it wont be long I'll be replacing them. I wish I could remember the length of the brake and clutch cables I bought, but whatever they recommeded is what I chose. The brake line was a little short, maybe go with an inch or two longer so you can route it though the factory locations. The clutch cable length was fine. I'd have pictures but my digital cam is broke. Time to spend some of that tax refund...

Hope this helps,

lp

I just bougth a 2006 FLSTCI. I am new to riding, but I want to switch out the factory handlebars to Wild 1 Chubbys. I am 5'10" and cannot decide between the 508's and the 518's. Which would be better for me on my Heritage in terms on comfort, control and styling. thanks...

Here's a link that will give you an idea how they look, there's a virtual section where you can change the bars... https://www.hdforums.com/m_112517/tm.htm

Ive had the Wild 1 Chubby "knucklebars" and switched to the "beach bars."
Both look awesome. I am shorter so the beach bars provide more comfort since they are pulled back more.

Randy I just finished my 05 Deluxe. Put on 508's went 4 " over on the throttle and idle cable. Tried 4" over on clutch, way to long. I left the stock clutch cable on while I decided what to do. I bought a stock length Clutch cable in braided SS and it work just fine. You could fine an aftermarket that is 1" longer not that much difference. The SS brake hose was 49" The bar look great.
