You really shouldn't be running it like it is. The best idea would have been to put on the pipes, the air cleaner and the fuelpak at the same time.

 

Fuel pack is in and aircleaner is on. The bike runs much better no popping now on decel. Just seems alot smoother all around. I can hear the round open element air cleanersucking airand it is sweet. I am going to paint the top of the kn because the stamping (al or galvanized ring)on the top of the filter really stands out even with the flat black cover I have on top of it.

The torquethe factory pipes providedseems to be gone but I need to really rideon a long haul to see what it did to the midrange and beyondand if I am going to compromise for this. If I dont like it I may be changing back to stock with rush slip ons. I miss the immediate torque feeling on take off. It eventually gets there just not as fast.

I will post some pics later. I do prefer the looks to stock.

 

Trade off! any time you reduce back pressure, you will loose torque. On the other hand, you should gain a little horse power on the upper end. Is being loud that important to you?

 

I just installed mine and it runs better but I did dyno tune it..

 

Another vote for torque cones. Glad you put in the pack- that's crucial as harley sets the mixture as lean as it will go with stock pipes so that you are in hot water when you open them up. Can you get somebody to run a tune on it to find out where you are with it?

 

My situation was very similar except I used the SERT. Never knew how it was stock, but I really like it as it's f'n new. I've got 175 miles on her ('08 FXSTC). It's quite a bit faster than my current '99 883 with SE A/C, SE II's and jetting!!!
