RE: Got bullet smoked lenses- not that impressed
Well i put the silverstar type bulbs in last night and they are so much brighter than the standard amber bulb. Its got that bluish tint to it which is kinda cool.
The thing is on my old flat, pancake style smoked lenses they are so much darker than these bullet lenses i just got and i worked out why.The originals had the silver reflector behind the lenses in a flat black finish where these ones have a silver reflector.Even with the new bulbs you can still see the amber colour due to the silver reflector but i doubt you would see much amber if the reflector was painted flat black.
Will try coating the reflector in black and see how we go.

I have the clear lenses with visors on my Deuce and I like the way it looks, I guess its all a matter of opinion. I do like how bright the silverstars are though. Looks good.

I put some black tape on the silver reflector to see what the difference is before i paint it and they come up considerably darker. No more bluish tint and certainly no amber.Question is,do you want the bluish tint like a xenon bulb or do you want a very smoked look.If you want the bluish xenon look just get the bulbs. If you want a really smoked look get the bulbs and a small touch-up tin of black matt paint and paint the reflectors.

if i'm not mistaken...ws6formula did the painted reflector mod and posted pics.... a search on his posts may give you a "look-see"
b.t.w. i have the silver-coated bulbs on mine behind smoked lenses and it definately looks smoked...although there is a hint of amber due to the reflector...
