RE: vivid black fatboy
I use Meguiars Mirror Glaze on all my tin. I had itsitting around already, and its working well for me.
I use a new piece of cheese cloth each time and always hand-buff. I think the swirls are coming from what you are using to buff with, not necessarly what wax is being used. I try to do all waxing in the shade. (avoiding direct sunlight like the directions say).
I was able to find a packaged roll of cheese cloth from one of those bulk stores (e.g. Sams), and just cut-off a new length each time I wax.

I try to keep a cloth off my vivid black as much as possible. If the bike is dirty, I wash it with the Mr. Clean Auto Wash with the spot free rinse. It works really good on the paint, but the chrome can still get some water spots. I do whatever I can to not have to wipe anything on the paint. And if I do have to polish the paint, I do it in straight line strokes rather than in a circular motion. Straight marks in the paint are less noticable than swirl marks. Another thing I do is I don't polish the bike if it's dusty. If the bike has dust on it and you polish it, you're just grinding the dust into the paint and causing more swirls. If the bike is dusty, either ride it like it is or wash the whole bike. I've also heard good things about the California Duster you can buy at Walmart and auto parts stores. I haven't tried one for myself yet, though, but I plan on getting one at some point. Oh and I also make sure to use a new cloth when I have to use it on the paint. And I use a one cloth for painted surfaces, and another one for the chrome. I don't want to pick up dirt off the chrome and then grind it into the paint. Also, starting from the top, which is less dirty than the bottom of the bike, and then working your way down will help also. That's my process and it seems to work. I'm very particular about swirl marks, so I do what I can to avoid them. Hope that helps.

I've heard that Liquid Glass is awesome. I think they actually recommend that it bake in the sun after application. Haven't personally used it though
I'm with Poor Boy - there's a lot of good stuff out there but you need to be carefull what cloth you use. Costco sells the microfiber towels pretty cheap. If I have to polish up my Black Pearl Fatboy, I use Captain Richard's Best or Armour All Armour Plate. It's spray on and wipe off. Waxes scare me as they can scratch the clear coat.
