Default Fat Boy H-D Saddlebag Attachment?

I have an opportunity to purchase H-D saddlebags which came from a Fat Boy. The back of the bag has a framework which atttaches to the bike. But how? By the fender strut bolts (semi-permanently) or some other way. Need to know soon to see if they would fit a Softail Standard. I think the spacing on the fender strut bolts is the same. Thanks.

Harley has either rigid mount or detatchable mount kits you have to buy to install them. Look around on there site under saddlebags and there is a fitment guide you can look at.

Well, my question remains. Since you ride a Fat Boy, what is the spacing onthe three fender strut bolts through the fender? Would you please measure them for me to see if they are the same as on my Softail Standard. I'd rather do that than take H-D web site data for usre. Thanks.

I have a 2008 FATBOY and mine bolted right on out of the package. It does matter what style of FATBOY bags, there have been several over the years. I have the '07,'08 bags. I didn't even have to move my blinkers.

There was a change in the fender strut bolt placement for recent bikes. But thanks for the information. I didn't get the bags in time.

The Fat Boy bags mount on the detachable Backrest points. You just change out to longer bolts or use the Bare backs you are selling. You do need the Detachable backrest mounting hardware kit to mount the bags. I am using the bare backs on my Fatboy and i love them. Right now I have them off and using the chrome caps they sell. Hope that helps
