Closet Harley Man... Coming out of the Closet!
After admiring them for years, I finally broke down and got a Fatboy! It is a 1998 and in great condition. Paid $8500 for it with lots of Chrome, and good care and feeding. I have had motorcycles for about 40 years (Mostly Hondas). I am learning as fast as I can about harleys, and the various differences in year models, etc. Have a few questions maybe some of you can answer for me. Looking in Harley's catalogue, lots of good looking parts end for the Fatboy in 2000 with the twin cam. Even things like handlebars are year model specific. I really like the "beach" Bars, but am wondering why they would not fit my bike. Same for the aux passing lights. I already have them, but the chrome is showing its age, and would like to replace them. Also the nice looking light bulbs don't show for the EVOs. Could someone give me the low down on this please. Thanks, and my compliments on a very nice forrum.

Welcome to the forum. As for your parts question, I would see what KURYAKYN has to offer.

Welcome to the loony bin.
If your looking for parts for "older" bikes, I know yours isn't really old by Harley standards.
Check out V-Twin Mfg., they make, stock, or can get just about any part for any year Harley ever made.
Other places to look would be Custom Chrome, Fat Book/Drag Specialties, and Biker's Choice.
If you go round to some of the indipendant dealers, and a few of the Harley ones. You can usually pick up any of those makerscatalog's on CD for free, or if you prefer, you can look through themonline. The paper versions usually run around $5 or $6 if you must have a hard copy.

Welcome.
Almost all handlebars and lights are interchangeable. The "Beach Bars" should fit your bike. It's just a handlebar.
There is a specific breakdown on Fatboys...1999 down is Evo, 2000 and up is Twinkie (Twin Cam). Some of the "larger components" do not cross over like fenders & gas tanks, motor parts, wheels, but the smaller stuff works on all. You'll just have to be more specific when asking.

Welcome to the funny farm.HAHA. I am just kidding, you will find some awesome people on here with a wealth of info and advice. Congrats on the FATBOY! In my opinion THE GREATEST HARLEY DAVIDSON EVER MADE. I love all HARLEY DAVIDSON bikes, but the FATTY is my favorite. Welcome out of the closet and into the light.

The motor company is somewhat scaling back on the evo parts I think; supply and demand; however, light bulbs can be had in any auto parts store, and handlebars should not be really any big deal;either they fit or they don't. Don't know why they wouldn't.
