If you want real loud than go with straight pipes. V&H makes them along with Sampson, Rinehart, and so on.

The guy I bought my bike from had V and H straight shots on it. I dumped em for 1 3/4" cycle shack drags off of fleabay for $49. I swear to god my bike picked up 20 HP just junking those 80 lbs turds. It was like hauling a fat girl around. Drags are the only way for me but they have a much different sound- raspy and mid-rangey. Sound like a friggen stock car all poppin and cacklin. My 1.5 cents.

Try Python Staggered Duals. They look like the V&H Big ShotStaggereds, and are just as loud. They also are not as expensive. For a deeper sound, similar to running no baffles, try Thunder City Monster Baffles. I have them in my Pythons and they sound like a drag car at idle. They maintain some backpressure so torque doesn't suffer as much as running no baffles. My bike has a carb, so it natrually will idle lower and give that deeper sound over a fuel injected bike. At my last service, theguy behind thecounter asked me if I had cam work done since the sucker had such a deep sound. All stockinternals here.

Mate. Stuff around no more. Bite the bullet and put on some decent pipes.Vance & Hines Big Shot Staggered. Now that a sound.
Hinmo

Lethalweapon is spot on. The V&H Big Shots Staggered sound awesome. Deep, rich, loud. Sound great at all speeds. You can't go wrong.[sm=smiley20.gif]

[sm=exactly.gif]I added quiet baffles ...takes the tinny sound at idle out and increases torque.

hmmmm....lotsa good info....me thinks I have to hear some in person....anybody live in Ma.? I heard a nice set this summer at a local pub on a late 90s softail....the guy gave me his number (was selling my Roadking at the time)....course I lost it.

My buddy owns a bike shop, but its hard to catch the exact bike (carbed, 03) in his shop to get a good listen. All I know, is my 90s Dyna with slipons, my 05 King with Screamin Egle racing pipes, and my ol ladies 883 with cheap slipoons sound better and deeper than mine.

Thanks for the advice - I'll see if I can find someone with the pipes you recommended and give em a listen.

I have a set of Hooker headers on my 06 Train that sound pretty good. I'm not sure what style they are because they were on the bike when I bought it. I have the baffles in and they have a nice low rumble at speed. I'm thinking of ditching them for the big radius or the Hooker troublemakers.

Big Radius seem to be the majority opinion.....but, (dont shoot me!), I dont like the curved look. Do they make an equivalent in a straight or staggered dual?
