Default '02 Fatboy Pipe upgrade - advice needed!!

OK, so I got the new (to me) bike - my first one, winters' comin', I gotta do something...
Looking to swap out the stock pipes, I don't mind the sound (I know, I know) just looking to get something that looks good and ends up under the passenger pegs, reallydon't care to go much louder than stock.HELP! I don't even know where to begin, duals, 2 into 1, at what point do I need an air cleaner / carb upgrade (mine is carbuerated), what's worked well for others, best names in pipes, etc. etc... Any and all information is much appreciated.

I can help you with loud, but I'm clueless when it comes to quiet.
I don't think I've ever been asked that before.

If you want quiet just keep stock. My pipes are LOUD too. Maybe screamin eagle II slip ons. My wife has them on her sporty and they are not too loud. Maybe a k and n air filter but it isn't necessary with slip on I have read. As far as my 02 fatboy, I have v and h pipes, big sucker air cleaner with a k and n filter and a pcIII to tune it. Is your bike EFI or carb?

Alright... so I'm re-thinkin' the whole 'quiet' thing - probably a dumb statement on my part, hey I'm new at this. I guess if I wanna gain some performance and some looks, I'd better be willin' to make some noise.
I'm simply not looking to break any eardrums, mine included. My bike is carbed. That said, any suggestions on a good intake / exhaust upgrade?
What're the benefits to a dual system over a 2 into 1 or vice versa?
again, thanks.

You might want to look into V&H Q series. I do believe they are a little bit longer than mine (as seen in my sig pic). From what I hear, no pun intended, they are quieter, plus both pipes go underneath the passenger peg.

For a 2002 Fatboy - Check Ebay. I picked up an almost new set of screaming eagle Double shotguns for $120. Almost %25 of full price. When some people sell their old bikes they part out the custom pieces because they do not get the value when sold on the bike. That is one reason to keep your old bits btw.

You can always add the V&H Quite baffles to after market pipes if you find them to loud.

Good luck and good shopping

BEST ADVICE: You should be able to pick up a "take off" or used complete stocksystem from a Heritage,Nightrain,Softail Standard for cheap, anything from 2000-2006 will bolt right on.
