Stage 1 & Vance & Hines Upgrade
Hello,
I have a 2007 Heritage Softail. This fall/winter I am going to upgrade to Vance's & Hines Long Shots & stage 1. The only problem I have is this. My dealer is telling me I don't need a Power Commander for fuel management. They aresaying the O2 senors with the on-board computer will do all adjusting. I have contacted several other Harley dealers in the area. Allare telling me they use some type of fuel management. Just wondering what my best optionswould be.

Is your dealerjust tellingyou that you don't need a Power Commander or a Fuel Management System period? If someone in charge of a service departmentis telling you that you don't need a Fuel Management Sytem for a EFI bike with Aftermarket Full Pipes & Air Kit, I would not let them near my bike.
The so called "On Board Computer" or ECM I believe it's called, can not adjust to the new set upby itself, it has to be adjusted by some means with a Fuel Management System. Different brands and makes do this in different ways. You could do a search on the subject of Fuel Management Systems and find out more about which ones do what and how.

Dan

Hey guys thanks for the replies.
Here is another twist to my questions. My original plans were to install the 07 Vance & Hines Big Shot Long with (2) O2ports, Stage 1 upgrade (K&N or SE) & also a Power Commander. I now see they offer a Power Commander with O2 eliminators. Will this mean I could use a 06 V & H pipe with no O2 ports using the eliminators?

Many similar issues as you. The short answer here is I don't think it is a good idea to eliminate O2 sensors.
