Hold windshield with both hands, straddle your front wheel, place the bottom of the windshield bracket fork slots onto the lower detachable spindles.Push downward and against the bike at the same timeso the top fork slots press on to the upper spindles. The spring clips will lock when you get it all the way on.

Takes a few attempts but it works.

Be careful not to scratch your headlight bucket when moving the windsheild over it.
Also, Be carefulnot the scratch the front of the windshield with your jacket zipper or buttons while you're leaned over trying to find the slots.....unfortunately I learned the hard way....

The clip is installed wrong....upside down or on wrong side of windshield. The open loop should face upward with the knuckle bend locking over the docking stud as you push back and down on the windshield.It honestly looks like the left and right sideclips are crossed.
