boy - I understand ergonomics....like has been said here already, the Heritage gives you the bags and windshield - which come in handy once in a while - but the Fatty just fit me better.... and after a short test ride, I knew I wanted the Fat Boy. I held out for my choice of color also. the dealer tried to get to take what he had in stock - but only the Black Pearl would sit under me.......

I traded in an 05 roadking classic for an 07 fatboy. I love the fatboy ! Take the rear seat off and it looks like a giant wasp about to sting ya. Back tire is sweet and it comes stock at 200mm. I enjoy the softail way more then the roadking both because of the looks and the way it rides/handles. Im not a whitewall lover so for me the deluxe is out. Heritage is awsome when stripped down just like the fatboy minus the back tire. They are all beautiful though

I love my Fatboy.

Low, wide, beefy. Rides great and looks cool.

No better softail that the Deluxe in my opinion, best looking and the lower seat height makes it the most stable. The Fatboy is just plain uncomfortable to me. I do agree that the Heritage is the best value if he ergonomics are right for you. Good Luck!

Go for the Heritage! I went through the same dilema and test drove a few models to make my final desicion. You should do the same at the stealer, ask them to let you test ride different models.

I amabsolutely in love with my 2008 FATBOY, but I have wanted one since 1991 when TERMINATOR 2 came out. I really like the HERITAGE SOFTAIL and the DELUXE, however I also liked the way the FATBOY felt when I sat on it. Felt like I own the road. The FATBOY has a bad a** attitude. All HARLEY DAVIDSON bikes are awesome, especialy the three mentioned. It is all about how and which bike makes you feel like a bad as*. Hope that helps you.

I had the same delima between the Fat Boy, Custom, Heritage.
I have found out start with the bike that you find yourself looking at more in the store, that's the one you want.

For me thatnarrowed it down pretty quickly to a 200mm rear tire, because that was something that would be a major change on the Heritage......and I didn't see the Heritage as a sporty bike, but more of an SUV type. Not as much as the touring bikes do, but that's how I look at one.

Then I narrowed it down to a Fat Boy over the Custom, because I figured a wider, bigger front tire would handle easier on the crappy roads we have around here.

Then you will find out (as I did) that you can change almost anything to make it match your riding style.
Then you will find out (as I did) that you can change almost anything more than once too.
