Default eBay saved me over $1,500

Back in the spring I tried to buy one of the paint sets Harley offers in their Limited series line.
“Radical Paint Set – Beast” but was told it was sold out.

http://*******.com/2l97cu

This week I found it on eBay from a Harley dealership in East Hartford, CT.
I bid up to $1,110 but lost out.
Then I got an email that said the highest bidder backed out and I had a second chance at it.

I know this was a scheming ploy from the seller of bidding, to get me to my highest mark. Then they back out and let me have it, He and I were the only bidders I believe. That p!sses me off, that they can do that. But I know they can. See if they had a reserve price then that’s all I would have had to go up to, but since he was bidding me to my limit, he got all he could.

Anyway I still saved $1,547.05

If I would have bought this from my dealership back in May, it would have cost me:
$2,499.00 M.S.R.P.
203.04Texas sales Tax (8.125%)
$2,702.04Total

- $1,154.99 eBay, shipping and insurance

$1,5447.05 Savings - (I paid 43%)

I think I did good.

Then when I sell my old set for at least $400, it get’s even better.

$2,702.04 Total Dealer cost

$ 754.99 My out the pocket price, of ebay paint set, minus my sold sheet metal set.

Actually that is quite against eBay's policies!! If you were to report that dealer for doing that, they could be banned from ever doing business on eBay! Personally I doubt a Power Seller (usually dealers are) would take such a chance.

In any event, you did great!! Sometimes eBay does pay off!!

What was the ebay item number? I will see if my mate who works there can get me the ip addresses of the seller and highest bidder so we can see if they are one and the same! You should have offered only your highest bid before the winning bidder pushed the price up. I hate shifty pr*cks like that. Sounds like something Demons would do!!

That's a sweet paint set, and that's awesome how much you saved. I can't wait to see it on your bike. Any idea when that'll be?

Good job, can't wait to see it. I need to get all my other stuff done first. The paint setand wheels will be last. That way I don't ding anything.
