Mounting fender to swingarm?

Mounting fender to swingarm?
I was just wondering if anybody has ever mounted a rear fender
straight to the swingarm by welding some tabs of some sort to screw
the fender to?
I figure like that I would be able to get the fender as close as safely
possible to the rear wheel. Witch also brings up the question of what
seat I would use since the fender would now move with the swingarm?
Any feedback would be grately apreciated.
P.S I have an 05 Deuce with a 200 tire conversion on the rear

RE: Mounting fender to swingarm?
Take a look at this pic......this is the fender I'll be putting on my bike and it essentially bolts through the same exact holes the existing fender struts bolt through. No need to weld anything. It's a strutless fender, but it's all welded as one piece.

Yep, it can be done, and isnt too hard either if your a decent welder. Strutless fenders above wont get you that tight clearance unless you do an airtail kit that will lower your bike when at rest. If you want the tight clearance you will have to do a custom hartail fender. Best think to do is to get a 360 fender blank, have a plasma cutter, angle grinder and cutoff wheel on hand and form it yourself. 9" wide fenderblanks work perfect with a stock HD softail swingarm.

With what setup? The hardtail fender? Go with www.heartlandbiker.com They have seats(and seat pans if you want to upolster yourself)that are designed to sit farther back towards the rear wheel and can be made to work with fenders that sit back on the rear swingarm. Best thing to do would be to get their seatpan, and then weld/rivet on the front seat tab for a super snug custom fit.
