I haven't ridden with the Badlander seat on a Softail, but the local dealer has one on a '08 Custom. I sat on it and I guess I've just been spoiled by the stock seat, because I thought the Badlander felt horrible. I had a Badlander on my '01 1200C and just sucked it up. I had a HD Stripper seat on my Deuce, and it wasn't too bad for me, but it was painful for my wife. And I have a solo spring seat with 1/2" of padding on my '07 1200L. Point is, I have a lot of experience with hard seats. And in my opinion, the stock seat on my '08 Custom is MUCH more comfortable than the Badlander. Unless you're just going for a different look, I can't see replacing the stock seat. That's my $.02.

I have a badlander on my 97 heritage and I only change it when my wife rides with me. Made several 300 - 500 mile trips. Once you get used to it no problem. 100-150 should be easy.
