Fork Oil Adjustment

Fork Oil Adjustment
Howdy all, First, thanks to all you folks for providing valuable input for rookies...you've inspiredme to get the Service Manual and do my own mx. Saying this, I'm collecting the parts, pieces, and tools to take my bike down for the 10K service...I think I have everything except a tool to measure the fork oil level.
Question: What's the best toolI can use to fill and check fork oil level in a 2003 Fatboy?
Thanks again...

RE: Fork Oil Adjustment
If it isn't leaking, there isn't any reason to check it. Just drain it per service manual and refill it. Mine holds 12.9 ounces per tube wet...(not disassembled). I just use a measuring cup and fill it to just under13 oz. Ichangedto Screamin Eagle Performance oil andmy bike handles much better.

RE: Fork Oil Adjustment
So, no fancy tools needed? (see link below). I just measure to specification and pour in...

RE: Fork Oil Adjustment
Not really...Only tools you will need is a 1 3/8 wrench, for the fork caps, and you willprobably need a hand held impact tool....the kind you use with a hammer with a #1 phillips bit, and a small diameter funnel that has a long tube....Don't forget that you will need to jack up the front end to get the weight off of the forks.

RE: Fork Oil Adjustment
Chromejunkie is right , you dont need any special tools.
Just be sure that you get all of the old oil out or you could over fill and cause the fork seals to leak.
You can drain and then just add a measured amount of oil oillike Chromejunkie said or you can drain and then completely bottom the forks and "fill" to the level stated in your manual. This can be measured from the top with a wire or small tape measure.
I also changed to SE Fork oil and Progressive springs and feel it improved the ride.
