Default wide tire (240+) on NT

Guys.

I am thinking about selling my Nightster and upgrading to either a NT or a rocker when they finally come out.

What is involved in putting a wider tire on the NT. I am thinking about a 240 like on the rocker and vrod. Also, what about fender options? I do not like that bobtail fender at all.

thanks

If your already considering selling the NT you have for a new one, and you don't like the Bobtail fender. It might be easier and simplier totrade your bike infor a new Rocker and make it into a Train.
You'll already have a factory 240mm tire and get rid of the fender in one shot, the rest is cosmetic.

I have a Nghtster, not a Nightrain.

I'm not sold on the rocker yet, but i really like the Nightrain. i am just curious to find out what it will entail to change the tire and fender.

Sorry, I missread that part, but the idea is still valid. I'm not "exactly sure what would be "required" to get a 240 tire on a Train. But I suspect thatyou may be forced toreplace nearly everything from the tranny back, including the seat. Worse is that its going tooffset the tire a little to the right to accomodate the belt drive, unless you switch over to a chain.

Check out these guys http://heartlandbiker.com/main.shtml
To put a 240+ tire on you'll have to change out the swing arm and install a spacer kit for the tranny. Acording to the site it's all bolt on but you do have to dig into the tranny.
They also sell a 200 kit. The NightTrain already comes with a 200. The kit is just the fender (3 differant sizes and unpainted) and a solo seat. They also sell a detatchable rear seat.
I'm buying my Night Train when I get back from Afghanistan in a couple weeks and one of my first mods will be the 200 kit at least, preferably the 250 kit. If I remember right their 200 kit is around 2k and the 250 is around 3k.
Like you I dont care for the rear fender one bit, but the rest of the bike is the closest thing Harley has to exactly what I want, and it's pretty dang close!

Default wide tire (240+) on NT

If I were you I would get a Night Train and put a 250 wide tire from Heartland.

The dynamic design of the TWO-FIVE-O system offers a fresh and innovative solution reflecting today's trend for bigger rubber. Take your factory twin cam soft-tail, retain your VIN and start customizing. What you'll get is an awesome 250 tire custom bike without the DMV and insurance hassles. Begin with our high quality billet aluminum struts, a one piece steel fender, add a specially designed hand crafted solo seat for comfort and conformity, our 250 swingarm and an offset kit. The Two-Five-O is designed to utilize the stock brake system, belt, pulley and wheel spacers. The fat cure for the common soft-tail.

Get ready to get up off some cash. The Heartland kit is hot, but you still have to buy a wheel, tire and paint, I think.I'd guess you'll go $3500.00, minimum.I might be wrong, I'd stick with the stock 200 and an aftermarket fender.Bigger isn't necessarily better when it comes to tires.I'm sportin' a 180 and I'm pretty happy, still handles, as well as a softtail can
