I originally went with Roadhouse exhaust, for the ultimate retro apprearance. However after three years, I am changinge to V&H true duals this winter. To help it along, cams & head work. he he As for your concern about the color, don't paint your tins, get new ones. Chopper blue & white were only produced in 2005, the first year of the reintroduction of the Nostalgia model. Personally I think it has the most authentic nostalgia appearance of all the paint offered on the Deluxe todate.

Lots of good ideas, but your bike is really neat looking as is, nostalgic! No offense to those that like them, but to me apes take away from the Retro look and kind of confuse the overal appearance of the bike. If you like apes you should trade bikes for one that more closly resembles a chopper. This is just my opinion and you know what thats worth.

Looks real good Calin. I'm doing much the same to my Heritage. Just had WWW installed on new SS spoke wheels and polished rotors, SS splash guard in front of rear fender chrome belt guard and chrome forks. Also installing a Ness lowering kit front & back. Should have pictures next week.

After a lot of soul searching I now have a plan. I finally figured out why I bought my bike in the first place and why I selected the colors I did. I realized that this bike was really a modern version of the 1950's and 60's Duo Glide panheads. I now know what I am going after. I have found that I really like the early 60's tank emblems and will start with those and a set of true dual fishtail exhausts. From there we will see where it takes me.
I have pretty much decided against apes as while cool looking I can bet that with no blood going to my hands that those 45 degree rides (like this weekend) will be extremely cold. If I lived in a warmer climate I'd certainly consider them.
Can you guys sense that I'm excited to have a plan? Thanks for the help everyone.

Does anyone know if you can do a center post (pogo) seat on an injected softail? I see there is a kit for softails up to 1999 but cannot find a kit for newer bikes.

Are you leaning toward "bobbing" the bike or "retro"?

I'm still leaning toward retro as that is what attracted me to the Deluxe in the first place. I'd like to keep it retro but with more muscle/*****. I am leaning toward some cooler spoke rims, true dualexhaust and possibly a more "manly" choice of color. By the way, what I originally liked about my bike was the color (didn't want to just be another black, no offense, Harley) as it reminded me of the Chicago Police colors.

This is what I'm doing to my bike this winter.
1-Fish tails pipe
2-16"apes
3-chrome swingarm
4-chrome calipers
5-I got a Deluxe front fender from Ebay. I will cut the fender half way. I will cut the rear fender and weld this piece of the front fender on my rear fender. To make it longer and smoth down to the tip of the fish tail pipe. No tailights or license plate bracket on the fender. I will keep the same color.
