Lots of good ideas and thoughts above. Also, thanks for telling me about the Hogpro site. I had not visited there before. Lots of cool bikes on there.
I think I have a plan based on the bikes I've seen and ideas above. True duals, fat spokes and if I can find a bike with apes to try out maybe some apes. I have some time to think it through as I still have plenty of tire life left. Who makes the best duals for the Deluxe? I guess I want fishtails.

I think your bike looks great now!, however I know where your coming from.I have an 05 same color deluxe and was thinking the same thing after a while. I added little things here and there but wanted something a little different to put my stamp on it but still keeping the retro look. I decided on a pair of 10" wild 1 apes with 1 1/2:" risers. I know most people on here would say10" are to small.They look good and the ride comfort is 100% better.No regrets what so ever. Hold the 10,12 and taller up to the bike and see what works for you.True duals is also a consideration of mine.
I will post pics this weekend when I get my camera back.

As for rims. check this place out. Look under house of color. I am thinking chrome wheels blue spokes or something with some white.

Thanks 05 HD Deluxe. I'd like to see the pics of your bike. I'm only 5'6" so apes that are much more than 10-12" may be too much above my shoulders.

Have an Upholster add some white to the seat with blue edging
Change the Deluxe Logo to an 'older' style HD metal logo.

Cycle Smiths has some great looking Speedball Front Axle Covers (See my picture) that not a lot of people know about yet.
Goodson Air Cleaner...or one by Cycle Vision.
Chrome & Leather levers in a blue-white combination by Iron Braids
Headlight andTaillight Visors
Nostalgic paint (how about SeaFoam Green and White?)

 

Slam the rear, that will change your ride and the look.

 

I like the way your thinking Whiskers and will check out some of the stuff you listed.

 

I accidently switched the products from Cycle Smiths and Cycle Vision ...Smiths has the a/c...Vision has the axle caps...my bad.

 

wouldn't 10" bars be mini apes? What is the "cutoff" for minis and real ape hangers?
