Its designed to be an add-on to the Security System II that was factory installed (or dealer) on 07's and up.

That's kinda what I thought...so, if I get the SSII w/pager, I'll be carrying around my fob AND pager?

Yes, you arm with the key fob and pager. When I'm running around town and not expecting to stay anywhere long, I just use the key fob. The alarm sound is enough to get my attention without the pager. I usually only use my pager when I'm out of town or staying in a hotel.

Since you are overseas watch for frequency interference on the pager. I don't know if German spec Harleys use different pager freqs.I figured I might run into trouble with the freq since I'm in Japan, so I just installed the regular siren behind the fender. Over here, most wireless stuff runs in different freq ranges than the states.

I installed smart siren II with pager on my 06FXST. Need a bike lift to do it. Very simple plug in.You need to use the keyfob to arm/disarm and the pager will beep and acknowledge/blink. The pager(vibrate and/orbeep)works pretty good. It will warn you from initial short beepwarnings to full siren. You can let it sit for 2-3 months without draining battery. Pager batt lasts 1-2 months normal use. $3-4 @ Radioshack or get the rechargable one.The only thing that annoys me is why do I have to carry two(keyfob & pager). Can't they put it together, make it one item.

I didn't need a bike lift to install the siren, but it was a tight fit getting the inner fender out of the way.

It is very easy to install...see center of pic...
I purchased the pager too before a trip to the Big Bend...
Stayed at a Ramada Inn, thick concrete walls....and seemed to lose the FM signal to the pager.(update: see my next post..this is not a problem..normal operation)..room was about 200 ft from bike...
next time will park bike right outside room window....

(update:Only therange confirmation signal stops after an hour...so if you are within range your pager will still receive the alarm.. )

You do know that the pager stops receiving a signal after an hour, right?
