Default Stll reaching for the bars on my fatboy

I recently bought a 99 fatboy. I'm 5'6" & can flat foot it ok, but I'm reaching for the handle bars,(stock bars),a bit too much. I just put on a Mustang Vintage 1 piece seat hoping that would move me closer, but I don't really think it makes much of a difference. What handle bars could I change to that would come back further for me. Perferably without changing all of the cables. Thanks.

I agree with the 504s I will be placing my order soon. 12.5 inches pullback. Check out http://www.wild1inc.com/handlebars.html Do some measurements and see what feels comfortable to you. Try closing your eyes and then bringing your arms and hands up and see where they end up.

I'm quite a bit taller than you (6' 2") and have a pretty long reach, but the stock bars weren't very comfortable, especially in the somewhat 'laid back' position in which I normally ride.

All I needed to do was change the risers, and I believe the ones installed were made for the Softail Deluxe. Easy to install, didn't need to change any cables, and the fit is perfect for me..

I agree with OldFenderGuy. I did the same thing for myFatboy. It made a huge difference in comfort. If you don't like it, depending upon which risers you buy, you're out only about $60 or so.

I was looking at some risers last night. That would be cheaper than buying new handle bars. I don't need to move them up much, just back 3-4 inches. Thanks guys.

The riser thing would be a 'cheap fix' if it works out for you....

I believe mine at 4" risers with pullback, and another thing I did was to rotate the end of the bar (grip portion) a couple of inches higher after installing the risers.

Here is a side picture.

If you are going for the stock look, these do look very nice ...

Otherwise, I agree with the others, pullback risers are the least expensive way to go. If you are going to replace them, also replace your bushings with the poly ones as well since you'll have them apart anyway.

Don't feel bad about the reach probelm you're having now. Everyone I know who has a Fatboy - big or small - has the same complaint.

I put Wild One 550 beach bars on my 98. They are wide and have plenty of pullback.
