Default 95 Softail custom gas cross over tube

I removed the gas cross over tube between the gas tanks a while back on my 95 Softail custom, and went to reinstall it, but I can’t remember the routing of the tube. My question is does it run above the tank mounting tabs, or beneath the tabs and above the heads ?

Should be under. It should also have the plastic protector sleeve on it as well to prevent chaffing

On my '01 Springer (pic 1), my '03 Heritage, my '09 CrossBones and my former '16 Low Rider.... They are all the same

The hose goes under the tank, over the top of the heads, with a protector on it.

But those all have a one-piece fuel tanks.

On my '89 Heritage, I never removed the fuel tank. I have no specific recollection of how that fuel line is run. But it had a two-piece fuel tank, like your '95 Softail Custom.

In an enlarged picture of the front of the fuel tank on my old '89 Heritage (pic 2), it looks to me like it may go up and over the lower fuel tank mounting bracket... but I can't say for sure..

Here are two pics of my '97 springer. I would get better pics but I am in Michigan and the bike is in Florida. Hope these help!

My 94 ran over the top of the jug.
I put a QD coupler on, now it runs in front of the frame

It would seem odd for the crossover line to run over the tank mounting tabs. I would venture a guess that, in most cases, it runs between the tank mounting tabs and the jugs.

This is my 2012 Heritage. I replaced the stock crossover with a braided SS line.

Since it is apart, add a quick disconnect on the crossover line. Allows you to remove the tanks without draining fuel. J&P and others sell them for cheap, makes the next tank removal much easier. Good luck.

If I ever need to take my tank off that's what I'll do!
