Default Grey wet grafite looking stuff caked to my clutch pack

I've been noticing a werring sound coming from my primary, not a grinding noise much smoother a werring sound, my 2012 fat boy has been running great except this sound. Yesterday I'm getting on the freeway, on the throttle going up through the gears and everything is great sixth gear highway speed maybe a minute and suddenly my motor revs real high and I lose all forward pull. Right away I think I've blown my clutch get the bike home take off primary cover and there is this grey grafite looking stuff caked to and inside my clutch pack I take the clutch apart the friction plates and drive plates don't look excessively worn out over heated but like I said I get no response except high revs when I put it in gear and let it the clutch. What is that grey stuff and is that the cause of my clutch no working.

A picture of the caked graphite stuff may be helpful.

Based on the description of the problem and condition of the clutch as you describe, I'd suspect a problem with the splines on the clutch hub.
