Anyone know of a sidemount/tailight combo that will work with bags? I have an 04 fatboy with a smoothed out rear fender and a primary-mounted sideplate that will be blocked when I install the bags. Any input greatly appreciated.

 

I've seen a few on some of the bike pics posted here... I think Kuryakyn makes one that is popular - sorry, don't have the part number or web page for you.

I'm currently working on this project...
I'm thinking of bringing it to my friend w/a CNC Machine to cut another notch by the axle adjustment....
it came w/2 notches, but needs one in the middle....my bags don't fit right now....and it is on the top notch...
the bottom notch makes the frame look too low...
another idea was 2 flip the eye to the bottom by putting it on the other side...
here's my current set up....(I putquick disconnect wires untill I get it figured out)will mess with it this weekend.....
my main concern is that my bike is lowered and the plate hitting my hard bags when I hit a bump....


who knows...maybe I'll go to a tribar and sell this one....

 

What bags are you using?

I'm using the HD hard bags w/lockable lids....



I messed w/ it a little yesterday and came to the conclusion that I would need to flip the mount to the other side and have the brake light on the bottom...
or sell the mount and go w/the tribar...

although Florida is a tough state.....
it seems that they only go after kids on crotch rockets....
I've been around plenty of cops at bike night and on the road....but never been harassed....alot of thumbs ups though...
trivia.....did you know that Florida law requires you to have atleast one red reflector on the back of your bike facing behind you?

 

I didn't know that. So it has to be an actual reflector? Your tail light doesn't count?

I wouldn't think a tail light counts as a reflector....but you can always ask the next cop you see.....

I heard that just a few weeks ago up in Clearwater Flat Quaker Steak bike night, LEO's were pullin' over everyone with a vertical mounted tag. I just took vertical kury side mountoff my fxst and put the tag back under the tail light. I figure, one less reason to initiate a stop...
