Default Vance and Hines exhaust compatibility fatboy

So I’m trying to figure out if a vance and Hines exhaust from a 2000 fatboy is compatible with an 08 fatboy? I remember reading the 08 has 02 sensors but I don’t think the 2000 does. Anyone have insight into this?

If you have the Vance & Hines model and part number, you can confirm this..... but.....

As a general rule, it should fit. As you read, the 2007+ Fatboys have O2 sensors. If the fitment was for a 2000 Fatboy, but not a 2008 Fatboy, it is an older exhaust and most likely doesn't have O2 sensor bungs.

Of course, you can buy O2 sensor bungs and add them to any exhaust... any good welder or a muffler shop should be able to do it for you...

Most exhausts made after 2007 will list both pre-O2 sensor Twin Cams & post O2 sensor Twin Cams of the same model in their fitment, but stipulate that the pre-O2 sensor models will need plugs for the O2 sensor ports.

I currently have an older Vance & Hines exhaust on my 2001 FXSTS Springer. It does not have O2 sensor ports.

I have a newer Vance & Hines exhaust on my 2003 Heritage that has O2 sensor ports, i just have O2 sensor plugs in the ports.

Not knowing the year/model Harley you have, or the Vance & Hines exhaust model & part number you want to use, I can't say for sure... so make sure you verify this yourself before buying the exhaust...

I can’t say for 100% but I’m thinking it will. Sensors and rear bracket might be different with tire sizes between the two the difference.Different rear bracket in that case or modify the existing one. I’ve switched Long Shots Short Shots Pro Pipe and Straight Shots between several year Softail’s and Dyna’s. If you’re buying used go for it. V+H pipes are easy to sell. Brackets can be bought from V+H separately.
