Default exhaust

What do I need to know about exhaust? I have a 05 Springer classic. I want to get ride of the duel two-sided exhaust and go to something like a shorter one-sided duel exhaust. Maybe something that looks like Samson Big Guns 3system. I notice that every manufacturer makes something that looks like this type of exhaust and I do not know what is good and what do I need to stay away from. I am not worried about heat shields or bluing of pipes. My intent is to wrap the pipes or possible get them powder coated black. I am worried about performance and want a set of pipes that will improve performance. I have not done anything to the carberator or the engine, but this might be a good time to beef up the intake as well. What do you recommend or what can you tell me to look for? Do baffles improve performance? What diameter pipe do I need to look at?Thanks for your help

I'llbuy your stock exhaust if you decide to sell it.

a 2 into 1 exhaust will give you the best performance. The D&D fatcat or Bassani's 2 into 1 are great. You can improve your stock pipes with slip ons.

You should get true duals instead, the springer looks too good to not have duals! it takes away from the retro style of it, im sure 2 into 1 would look ok, its a grogeous bike, everything looks good on 1, but true duals would be a great way to go! Ill be doing it soon hopefully
