Default Fuel pump not running 2010 FXSTC

Went to start my bike and the fuel pump does not turn on. All lights work and speedo works. Cranks over but won't start because no fuel pump.

Battery was low and charged it over night. I have not pulled the seat to check the fuses. I just wanted to see what you guys thought so I have a game plan on what to check this afternoon.

Thanks and I tried to search.

Done any recent work....??

If no recent work, always start with easy stuff, battery, cables (including grounds), etc....

Since it's turning over the engine, you should have enough power to activate the fuel pump..

Check fuses/relays, then pull the speedo consile and check that main connector to the tank for good connection, dirty corroded wires, or bent/loose pins (usually happens after doing work that involved messing with that connector)...

If all above check OK, time to start checking individual circuits with a multi-meter....

Good luck with your diagnosis, keep us informed....

If it’s not the fuse . And the gas tank is less then 1/4 of a tank , you should be able to remove the gas cap and hear the pump running or hear a possible leak in the internal fuel line .

Thanks hattitude and Iron Horse. No work done on the bike. It was out in the rain uncovered during a storm. I have not tried starting it in a few weeks. Tried starting it yesterday and just got a click, did not think of checking to hear fuel pump. I charged the battery over night and tried starting her this morning, strong crank and all lights and console light up but no fuel pump.

I'll pull the seat and check fuses and relays. I'll also check the kill switch on the handle bars.

What would be next? Thanks for the help.

Would the ecm need to be reset? I know on my Cummins they say to disconnect both battery cables and hook them together for awhile and reconnect to the battery. Would this work?

Just an FYI I have all the HD manuals for my bike. Owners manual, parts catalog, service manual and wiring manual.

I had the same problem with my 09 Night Train. It was a bad relay. Sorry I can't remember which one it was. I replaced it and it worked fine after that.

That would work to reset the ECM but not necessary. I have changed numerous batteries without the need to reset the ECM...

If my diagnosis leads me to believe there may be an issue with the ECM, then I will reset it... just for disconnecting or charging the battery, I never needed to...

Start with checking the fuses/relays....
