FWIW....
The difference between the system relay and starter relay is that the system relay has a diode to protect sensitive system electronics, that the starter relay doesn't need/use. Some system relays have an extra spade (five v four) for an accessory circuit used on older touring or police bikes. I don't believe it is used on other models or newer models..
You could just carry a spare system relay, and use it in either position in an emergency. Then you could get the proper starter one, at your leisure.
Less to carry around with you on the bike...
The relays can fail as your indy said, but in my experience, it doesn't happen often. In 45 years of riding Harleys, I have had to replace 1 relay to date.
I don't carry a spare one on my bike. In an emergency, you can get one at any auto parts store...

Instead of buying one spare, why not just replace both cheap relays? Do you really want to trouble shoot in dark or a bad time?
i started doing this but didn't finish on all bikes. Pick up maxi fuse too.
IMO it is good to replace based on age. I work in heavy industry, we try not to wait until fails. Same with bike, you can't guess everything, but you can replace some failure points
You got 13 year old bike.
