Hat is correct, the 422's do not block the drain plug. Also, like Clammy said, the RAP set up is well worth the extra money.

I have the 422 RAP and monotubes on my 02 Fat Boy for about 5 years now and have been happy with that set up. Far and away better than the stock stuff.

I have Legend front and rear on my 19 Electra Glide and and very happy with them too. If you are changing your transmission oil that often, then leaving a few ounces in it using a vacuum system would never be a concern. For me it wouldn't be a consideration if I was evaluating options. Give the Legends a fair look. I don't know anyone who has their set up on a softail, but they build good stuff. I don't remember them being available when I was making the decision, but I would shure check into them.

I doubt you will disappointed with either choice.

Progressive 422 w/RAP & Monotube set up is the best modification I made to my 2009. The Fuel Moto 107 is a close second though.

In particular I wanted maximum ride height and taught suspension. I used to scrape foot boards constantly. I now only occasionally touch down when hammering corners.

I found the best price available by contacting one of our forum sponsors @Parts Giant and requesting a quote.

Maybe Legends are better, but considering the price difference I'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze for Legends.

100% recommend the progressive set up. The install isn't terrible and if you run into any issues many members here can help with advice.

Good luck and enjoy the much improved ride.

I actually looked into the Legends, for me the ease of adjusting the 422's with the **** was what sealed the deal. I go from solo to 2up more than most, and a couple twists is easier than crawling under there. Not to mention the Progressive Setup was half the cost at the time.

No "crawling under there" with Legend. It comes with handle bar controls, just push a button, even on the go.

That's air. I don't believe the OP is considering "air". Not to mention that system alone is over his budget, he wants to do front and rear. Like I mentioned, in case you missed it, I considered Legend, but the non-air version. I thought about the air but I do an awful lot of touring on my Heritage, if I ever sprang a leak somewhere in the system, I may be stranded in one location for some time until parts arrive, simply because not every HD dealer will carry Legend Suspension, and to think of it, in my travels up and down the Eastcoast, I've never seen a Legend system in any HD dealer. The 422 RAPS are probably the best/easiest non-air ride system out there for tunability. If he goes back and forth to solo and 2UP he can't go wrong. Nothing wrong with Legend, but the 422 RAP's are the clear winner here simplicity and transforming the bike from OEM to a real ride.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm a Legends fan boy. They do/don't block access to the drain plug, you can get to it if done just right but it's far easier to suck the fluid from the top.

I reached out to LEGENDS customer service and t hey confirmed that both air and revo style will block the trans drain plug on MY 2009 Heritage.
