Shocks are under the engine just forward of the swingarm.

Yea,what Oldgeezer said. There not that hard to adjust really,I even made the spainner wrench to do it.

I have 40000 on y stock shocks I believe they should be changed at 15k. I an holding off for air shocks

It is not difficult to make Softails ride like a Cadillac. Super Glides, Road Kings, and Softails all have about the same 4 inches of suspension, both front and rear.
The problem is they all come setup for a soft ride for a single 160 lbs rider.
Bottom line:
What is your normal load weight?
Do you have the money for Shotgun Air Shocks?
Is ride height adjustment important?
