1990 softail starter fitment issues
Hi all -
have a 1990 softail fxsts. Last winter my garage flooded pretty badly while i was away and my starter sat underwater for awhile and when i pulled it to inspect it was cooked.
Anyways i picked up a repop on ebay since this is just a hop around bike and the starter works great. The problem though is the post is shorting on the oil bag - so i went to look for another but cannot find any that are set up like the oem one that was on my bike.
you can see the oem one on the bottom has the post on the bottom right so it clears the oil bag, but on the top starter - the post grounds out on the oil bag and keeps rubbing through the rubber bolts. any ideas? no room to raise the oil bag more / don’t want to shorten the oil bag - too much work. can i flip the posts?
