Apehanger guy's - How do you manage handlebar slip ??

RE: Apehanger guy's - How do you manage handlebar slip ??
Ive had this problem with my Nash bars. Of course, they recommend buying their risers. I sat on one of their bikes in Sturgis, yanked as hard as I could, and they did not slip at all. Their bars arent knurled, so most risers dont grip em good enough to prevent the slippage. Riding 600 miles in one day, dealing with the bars slipping on every bump I hit gets old fast.

I haven't had that problem. The only time my bars moved was when I hit a huge pothole one time. That almost threw me right of my bike as well. When I got home, I loosened the riser clamp bolts, adjusted the bars back into the proper position, and re-tightened the bolts. No movement since. I ride pretty hard, and when there's a good headwind going, I'm "holding on".
Cheers!

I had that problem with my wide glide with factory bars. When I would pull the bars to back the back up they would slip. I had an old pair of surgical gloves and cut 2 small peices and placed thembetwen the top of the clamp and the bars on each side and hidden from view. It worked for me, but emory cloth is a good idea too.

On my '64 years ago I put a dime under the bar on each riser then tightened them down. Worked great. If your bars are knurled try using a grinder to deepen the grooves, I also carefully cross-grooved the risers on the inside so they had gripping surface. I tried tape, rubber tubing and it worked for awhile but kept slipping down. The grooves worked for me.
