Default Never say Never!

Up until Sat. I was one of those guys that havent gone down yet. I am an MSF Rider Coach and have been for the past 2 yrs. I have been riding now since I was a teenager, and had not laid my bike down on the street and thought that it probably would be unlikely to happen.....until..........

I was traveling down a 2 lane road with one of my Bro's in a cage in front of me. We had just come back for another Brothers house working on Bro #1's bike. We stopped in to get chinese and was taking it home to the OL's. It wasa beautiful day and I was kicked back enjoying the beautiful weather that we rarely get here in Germany when 2 cars ahead of him was a car stopped in the middle of the road waiting for traffic to clear so he could turn left. The middle car had stopped behind car number one, put his car in nuteral and did not have his foot on the brake so there for car #3 my best friend had to jam on his brakes. Now normally I wouldnt admit this but I feel there is a lesson to be learned here.... So while he is getting ready to jam on his brakes there is a convertable that passes be with two hot chicks in it waving at me, so what do I do????? I glance [sm=smiley13.gif]over at them only to look up and see that my buddy is stopped right in front of me. So I jam on the brakes and wind up sliding the *** end around to the right and laying the bike down on the left side.

Now the bike isnt too bad with only the left fog light bezzel scuffed, the handle bars tweaked, the highway bar scratched and bent, and my left pipe scuffed. Me on the other hand have not gone to the doc yet but will be this morning. I think I am ok though. My left hip is really sore and my left ankle is now swollen and bruised (just turned that way this morning) it was only sore..

Lessons to be learned:
#1 Never think that it cant happen to you because it can and does. When it does it is so fast that when you see it coming it is too late.

#2 Keep eyes on the road and not the hot young girls passing in the convertable, because you will feel like a dork when it is over.....

Thanks for shareing and reminding us to be more watchful. I hope you feel better.

Just yesterday I had a pretty women in a shinny newMercedes in the left lane next to me in city traffic. We left a traffic light together which let me notice that she was on a cell phone. I didn't have enough space to get ahead of her in my lane, so I slowed-down to let her get ahead in her lane. Shebegan drifing all over the place. At one point more than haft of her car was in my lane and would stay there until she would drift back into her lane. This repeated several times until I turned right at a subsequent intersection. She was clueless of anybody to the right of her. If I had stayed paced with traffic in my lane, I am quite certain she would have been into me.

We all hate hearing about stupid cagers and I'm sure there is an endless supply of close encounters.

Cheers.

I appreciate all the concerns. I just came back from the doc and everything seems to be ok. He gave me some good pain meds and said the swelling should go down in a few days. The bike is pretty minimal so it should be ready by the weekend. Thanks again.

PS: And the joke has nothing to do with a motorcyle!

Sorry you came off btw dude! That really sucks! I dropped a Hayabusa on a icy road a few years back at only 50km or so and it cost almost as much as the bike was worth to fix it! Aaarrgghh!!
