Default 88 softail loss of clutch

Hi, I have an 88 softail custom that keeps losing all clutch. I had all the tranny seals done at a harley mechanic and it rode great for a couple weeks then I started losing the clutch lever one day on my way home. I adjusted the clutch the right way [losening the cable, adjusting the basket, and then taking play back out of cable] and went back out but within a mile I started getting play in the lever again. My mechanic suggested the throw out bearing so I replaced that and nothing. Now it's worse than ever, the clutch lever goes all the way to the grip with no resistance and when I got it home after a quick ride to test it I could hear the clutch basket asking noise, and it smelt burnt.. Any ideas would be great, thanks.

First thing I would do is pull the cover off and check everything.

I did when I installed the throw bearing and I thought it looked OK, heres pics from when I took the cover off before I replaced the bearing.

Have to tear it down, figure out what you screwed up. Who knows what you've done, or the other guy did.
Cltch is one of those things, from cable seated correctly, clutch pak adjusted properly? Those are the two things that matter most over the cable adjustment.
I've seen folks adjust the clutch pak nut too tight and throw it all off, I've seen the friggin cable not get installed correctly.
Tear it down, inspect everything. Burnt clutch plates are not a good thing.either.

Gonna have to contact him, it started doing this before I touched it, I know he took the clutch out when he replaced the tranny seals. Thanks

He overlooked something on re-installation, that makes sense. Good luck with that.
