Default My Badlander seat impressions after 30 min.

I bought a georgeous looking used30th annivesary Badlander seat for my Fatboy off Ebay, and as far as looks and fit, it is georgeous.. I love the nice flowing lines of a Badlander. Now comes the reality. After spending about an hour in the new seat last night, I immediately realized what an uncomfortable POSseat these Badlanders are. Bottom line,I felt like I was sitting on a 2X6 board ! They are narrow, and firm. The seating position compared to stock is slightly lower, but more foreward. I didn't mind lower, I did NOT like more foreward. It did however offer some nice back support over the stock seat. So end of story, this seat for me sucks. I just wished the Badlander didin't look so damgood on my bike....... Oh well back on Ebay it goes... LOL

That's funny. I had a badlander on mine and thought it looked great. It wasn't very comfortable though for any long period of time.

I stopped in at a local bike shop and I'm talking to the owner about how bad the seat was and his exact words were "didn't you know? They are the biggest POS seats HD has ever made"...

Funny you said the exact same thing.... I wonder if you took it to an upholstery shop and had them put some gel padding in it.

yeah, why get rid of it, yes mine is a pos also, but for about 100 bucks you can get the seat reshaped, gel or viscoe foam installed, and you will have great looks and a good saddle.
Still waiting for my spare to show up off e-bay for my train, when it does i'm gonna ship it out to http://www.meancitycycles.com. He does some great work and others on this forum can attest to the fit and quality.

I gotta say I find my Badlander great.

I can ride easy for an hour on it - it is great to use getting in and around traffic.
I use mine during the week and then switch to the stock 07 seat for the weekend.

My leg length is not too long but I have thick legs so it really suits me.

I wish I got the leather version.

The other issue I didn't mention is the under pan is not shaped like my stock seat. This causes the Badlanderseat to interfere with my Power Commander. I have to do some thinking about if I want to foammod this seat with that Mean City company, and mod the plastic seat pan to clear my Power Commander.....

When I was looking for seats my dealer had the badlander on a bike next to the diamond back solo (which is what I have), the difference in comfort is night and day. The diamond back solo sits me lower and further back and is way more comfortable than the badlander and the stock seat.

I call the stock Badlander that came on my Night Train "The Torture Device". The max time I could spend on it was 2 hours. On the seat I have now, I've done 14 - 16 hour days without my *** dying or my back killing me.

The Badlander is definitely a case of "form over function".

Cheers!
