I have replaced many Dunlops with them, on many bikes, and it is always an improvement. They track straight, and you don't even know you are on an expansion joint. The Dunlop jumps around too much on them. I have ridden CII in the rain, but mostly I do a lot of aggressive canyon riding, and freeway/highway. Have not tried the III's yet.
If you liked the 2s...you’ll really like the 3s...

Default Michelin II tires

I ride a FatBoyLo Softail. Very similar to your Heritage Softail. I've run through 5 sets of Commander II tires and have consistently only got about 8,000 miles on the rear tire till I'm down to center bare.Front still has some tread left when the back is worn but I always change out the pair. They have always been predictable and reliable handling tires for me and I feel confident with them under me. Just not great mileage.
I don't drag race from stop to stop. Most of my miles are highway at sensible speeds. Have not tried a set of 3's yet as there were too many bad stories about them in the early production runs. Maybe by the time I wear out these one's I 'll give the 3's a try. Hope that helps you to inform your decision.
