Gentlemen; I am hoping that someone is familiar with the reason why the Dunlop 402 - Harley-Davidson engraved white wall is "Discontinued". I am wanting to replace the front and back tires, but two dealerships have informed me they are discontinued. Is there another way to acquire them? I think they look really good on my 2014 CVO Softail Deluxe and I regularly get a lot of compliments. These tires make the OEM white walls look so plain. Dunlop 402 - H-D Engraved White Wall (EWW)
I saw several "touring" Dunlop 402 engraved white wall tires for sale from several vendors, including Amazon.com....
Not sure how 2014 Softail Deluxe tire sizes compare with touring tire sizes, or if they might be interchangeable....?
Obviously, if Dunlop is discontinuing a tire model, it's probably because they are not selling enough to justify production...... I know at one time the engraved white walls were about $50 more than the non-engraved white walls...
IMHO, that's a lot of money to spend on an HD logo/words in your white walls. Which could be part of the reason they are being discontinued...
Received a call from Dunlop and confirmed with H-D that the "engraved white wall" is indeed discontinued. They were only offered through H-D dealership parts/service. Several other retailers (i.e. Amazon) used the tires appearance to falsely trick people into buying a regular white wall Dunlop tire at a premium price. So hopefully this comment will help anyone interested in possibly buying this tire, which now is no longer available.
Since you can't get the D402 with the engraving, look at the Dunlop American Elite. IMO it's a better tire. Better traction, wet weather performance and wear. And you can get it in WWW.
