You join the forum and jump pretty fast into name calling and petty insults. You like your bike, I don't, you ride it, I don't. My opinion is that Springers are the best bike Harley made, but they're certainly FAR from the best all around, I mean, they handle like crap, but ride so damn smooth. Not the best. Glad you like it though.
Most of us here have been chatting with each other for years, and yes, there are some petty squabbles, but new people coming in and going hard like you're going, don't last. Enjoy the comradery and friendship this forum can offer and don't be so quick to defend an opinion.
With that out of the way, what's under the tarp and what are the specs on the SG there too? I like all bikes.

You are very observant sir. When I left NC, I swear I had decent tread. The pic was somewhere in S. Dakota. The roads were dry, so I thought I could make the HD shop in Reno and get fresh tires. By time time I hit a Motel 6 in Nevada, the tire was showing wire. I left the next morning planning to go slow on backroads and get to an HD shop in Elko. Five minutes out of the parking lot BAM! and she popped. $400 for a 40 mile tow to Elko Harley on a Sunday. (BTW, I found the HOG membership tow insurance to be worthless). Two days and $1,295 later, I was back on the road to California. Lesson learned - once the tread gets low, best to not push it.

[QUOTE $400 for a 40 mile tow to Elko Harley on a Sunday. (BTW, I found the HOG membership tow insurance to be worthless).
Hope not???!!! Paid the 50 bucks JUST for the roadside alone.
All reviews I could find were good but that doesn't mean much.
For 400 , you could have gotten an Uber to a U-haul and rented a truck/trailer.
Then had 300 left for the tire.
Changed a rear tire in a strippers back yard 'the morning after'. 80's ? Used a 2x4 and a milk crate.
One adjustable wrench. Took her to dinner when I was done.
She had to schlep me around to find the tire.
Bought tire changing equipment 20 years ago when my HD dealer charged me a 100 to mount and balance a front tire.
Gave him the tire and bare rim off the bike. SHOULD have asked the price up front but thought, "couldn't be that much"
Has paid for itself by now. Maybe 8 tire changes?

The very best Harley (or at least best looking) ever cobbled together was my 1960 Panhead on a 57 frame that I swung a leg over for well over 20 years. Now lives with my brother as my knees couldn't take the kick starting and my back couldn't take the pounding of those magnificent 4' chrome springs under the saddle. Now I am onto my third fatty, a 12 lo that seems to be just fine for short rides
